About Us

Our Philosophy

Our philosophy is to emphasize leading edge diagnostic-based medicine and surgery in a professional, compassionate atmosphere. We strive to provide education to our clients and emphasize that a proactive preventive approach is best for our patients’ health and well-being as well as for our clients’ pocketbooks. We welcome all companion animal-related questions and are available 24 hours a day on an emergency basis.

Our Story

Valley Veterinary Clinic was founded in 1978 by Dr. Debbie Cosgrove at its previous location, 3900 E. Main. Dr. Darren Woodson, a 1985 graduate of Kansas State University, bought the practice from Dr. Cosgrove in October of that year. Dr Woodson attended Margie Alvarez’s Kansas State graduation in 1986, they married the next day then went to work. In December 1989, they moved to 4390 E. Main, our current location. The boarding facility was added to the hospital in 1993. The clinic has grown from a one-doctor, two-staff practice to a five-doctor, 20-staff full-service facility.

Technology and expectations surrounding pet health have changed in the last 30 years; however, our commitment to our patients and clients to provide care in a compassionate, professional atmosphere has not changed.

The Valley Vet Experience

In today’s busy world we value your time as much as you do. We work hard to keep your scheduled appointment time to give you and your pet the quality attention you deserve. We are not a “get you in- get you out”  hi volume veterinary practice.  Our mission of client education and preventive health care dictates what we call “The Valley Vet Experience”, where we will spend time with you and make sure we do a thorough physical exam and answer all of your questions.

We will teach you normal for your pet so you can recognize abnormal, along with aspects of home care such as preventive ear cleaning and oral care, all in an effort to save you money and allow your pet to enjoy a longer healthier life.

To accommodate your busy schedule, you may pre-arrange a “drop off” appointment for your pet.  Your pet will receive a complete physical examination while staying for the day and the doctor will communicate the results of the physical exam, along with any other services done, at your convenience.

Our goal for our family-owned business is to provide you, our client “family”, with a positive veterinary experience.  This has been our mission since we started out over 30 years ago as a “mom and pop” business and it remains so today. Our “WHY” at Valley Veterinary Clinic is “Our Family Serving Your Family” and we will strive to give you the best customer service and veterinary experience at each and every visit.

If at any time you have an issue with the service received at Valley Vet Clinic or the Pet Lodge and Salon, please bring it to the owners-management’s attention.  We give your comments consideration and try to resolve any issues that are a concern to you or your pet.
